‘Chakra Awakening’ in simple terms is the practice related to the activation and healing of the ‘Third Eye’.

The session typically covers the following practices:

  • Tratka (or Steady Gazing) is the practice of staring or gazing, of an external object. It is used to develop concentration, strengthen the eyes, and stimulate the Third Eye.
  • Yoga Nidra (or Psychic sleep) is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping.
  • Moolabandha is a combination of Pranayama and Meditation, and provides continuity when Meditation begins.
  • Pranayama Sadhana is the Hatha Yoga practice of breath control.
  • Ajna Chakra Sadhana is the practice of activating the Ajna Chakra progressively.
  • Eda and Pingala Sadhna is the practice of streamlining energy through the “Nadis”.

Yoga is essentially based on the seven chakras system that lie along the spine, from the base to the crown of the head. Each of these chakra points relates to the organs and glands situated in its region. The chakras, are not only responsible for the organs and glands that each is associated with, but these also depict our various personality traits.

CROWN CHAKRA

Crown or Sahaswara or the “thousand petal lotus” chakra is located at the crown of the head. This is the chakra for enlightenment and spiritual connection to our higher selves, others, and ultimately, to the divine. It is located at the crown of the head.

The Ajna Chakra is located in between the eyebrows. It is also referred to as the “Third Eye” Chakra. Ajna is our center of intuition. We all have a sense of intuition, but we may not listen to it or heed its warnings. Focus on opening the sixth chakra will help you hone this ability.

THROAT CHAKRA

This is the fifth Chakra, located in the area of the throat. This is our source of verbal expression and the ability to speak our highest truth. The fifth Chakra includes the neck, thyroid, and parathyroid glands, jaw, mouth, and tongue.

Heart or Anahata Chakra is at the middle of the seven and unites the lower Chakras of matter and the upper chakras of spirit. The Anahata is also spiritual but serves as a bridge between our body, mind, emotions, and spirit. The Heart Chakra is our source of love and connection.

SOLAR PLEXUS

Solar plexus or Manipur Chakra means lustrous gem and it’s the area from the navel to the breastbone. The third Chakra is our source of personal power and fire element for digestive function.

Sacral Chakra is our creativity and sexual center. It is located above the pubic bone, below the navel, and is responsible for our creative expression.

This chakra governs the pituitary gland, which is the master gland of the endocrine system and strongly influences the functioning of the other endocrine glands. Opening, balancing and healing the Agya Chakra, directly improves the functioning of this important gland.

This chakra is also associated with intellect, imagination, strong intuition, concentration & focus, and deep spiritual awareness.

A part of practicing yoga is recognising the ‘Chakras’, which are a fundamental aspect of achieving inner peace and balance. Because the third eye chakra governs the brain, ears, eyes, nose, pituitary and pineal glands, and the neurological system, the physical dysfunctions associated with imbalance or blockages can be severe. Headaches, eyestrain, panic, depression and nightmares are all linked to the Agya Chakra primarily because the pineal gland is in charge of producing the hormones serotonin (mood) and melatonin (sleep patterns). These brain chemicals, when unbalanced, cause such dysfunctions.
